Where to buy
Once you have purchased your car there are a number of places you can get your car insurance from:
- Online - Most insurance companies have websites that allow you to get your car insurance online. You can also get quotes for your car insurance from these websites, making it easier for you to find the best deal. It is often cheaper to buy your insuance online compared with other methods.
- Phone - You can arrange your car insurance over the phone by calling the insurance company you would like to buy your policy from. There are usually no forms to fill in as everything is done for you over the phone.
- Insurance Brokers - You can contact an insurance broker to find you the best deal on your car insurance. However, you are likely to be charged for their service.
- Car Dealers - When you buy your car from a dealer, many offer to help sort out your car insurance.
Paying for your insurance
There are a number of different ways to pay for your car insurance. Usually, your policy will be paid for on a yearly basis. This can be done by paying the money in a lump sum, or paying it in instalments. It is often cheaper to pay for your insurance in one payment. You can also get insurance for shorter periods of time, this is useful if you want to add someone else to your policy over a brief period. However, it will most likely be cheaper to get insurance for a year than pay for it on a monthly basis over 12 months.
